Tips on Hiring an Event Photographer

THEY SAY A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS...
While it may be an old adage, that statement couldn't apply more than it does to event photography. By their nature, events are something you participate in rather than observe. That means that there are often moments that speak volumes but are fleeting at best.
Event photographs allow you to enjoy the memory of your special event and see your guests who attended and what they did. Pictures help you to recall those moments that you don't want to forget. They also are a record of the event that can be used as promotional materials or even as gifts.
Your event happens only once and although some photographs are posed, many of the best are spontaneous and cannot be retaken. Begin searching for a reliable photographer as soon as you have decided upon a date. Ask friends, relatives and other event professionals for referrals.
Photographing events is different than shooting portraits, products, tabletops, etc. Interview photographers who have extensive experience in shooting the type of event you are organizing. Review their portfolio. Ask and check out their references.
Photographers' fees vary. You may be charged for the number of rolls of film taken, per hour of photographer's time, for proofs, photographs, albums, frames, portraits, etc. Many photographers offer packages that include a combination of the above charges at reasonable prices. Don't sacrifice quality for price!
Your event is a special affair. By selecting an experienced photographer with technical expertise and proficiency, every special moment will be captured in beautiful photographs that will be enjoyed for years to come!
